Across the Court and Across the Globe: The Story of Anais Nussaume

The journey of Anais Nussaume is one that spans 18 hours of flight time and an 11 hour time difference. She is a Division 1 tennis player at Temple University who hails all the way from Bangkok, Thailand.

Many normal college students experience difficulties in balancing time and work and any extracurricular, but Ms. Nussaume takes that to a whole new level.  Not only is she currently pursuing a major through Fox Business school, but she is also adjusting to the culture shock that is North Philadelphia. Coming from such a distant country can be a real burden on anyone, specifically a young adult such as Nussaume.

Reporter Reyn Sugai also spoke with Nick Placke, a senior advisor to foreign athletes, about some of the stuggles they may face coming to this new country. Placke was very forthcoming about how many international students find it difficult to adjust to the curriculum here in America, however in the long run, the student athletes from abroad, are often very successful.
